Environment and Infrastructure Management

  • Assess requirements for all technical environments that are required to enable successful testing of infrastructure, applications and system.
  • Manage test data provisioning and suitability in conjunction with the environment owners.
  • Ensure the security of access and support to maintain the integrity of the environments throughout the testing and release process.
  • Support successful testing and validation of infrastructure, applications and systems including management of environment defect resolution, access requests, planning for releases to environments etc.
  • Secure the required technical environments, data and resources for successfully managing environments throughout test planning, test preparation, test execution, Production deployment/migration and Project warranty stages.
  • Manage technical experts and specialist resources required to support the delivery of change configuration and environment analysis and control.
  • Provide co-ordination, planning and reporting of activity across the estate between the various stakeholders, (Testers, Support Teams, Deployment Teams, Environment Owners, Service Assurance, PMs and Senior Management).
  • Maintain and appropriately escalate issues, risks and dependencies in ample time for remediation as required. Manage resolutions to successful conclusions.
  • Manage Non-Production Service (POs/SLAs/definition/agreements etc) including ongoing service improvement.
  • Forecast and monitor budgets and resources.
  • Plan and manage the environment schedule and capacity planning in conjuction with Project and Programme teams.
  • Deliver ongoing environment strategy in conjunction with counterparts providing Environment Management on other platforms, Release Management function and IT Architects.

  • Ensure environment requirements can be translated into agreed builds.
  • Ensure environment policy and control data is no greater than 3 months older than in Production.
  • Ensure each environment has been validated against design/requirements by supplier, resulting in minimal validation by test service supplier or project.
  • Manage all suppliers to a fixed cost for a new or updated test environment.
  • Ensure environments are managed and maintained for value
  • Plan with project teams (both support and requirements)
  • Liaise with Projects, Testers and Programme Management
  • Arrange meetings as required for larger projects (covering all environment requirements)
  • Deliver new infrastructure as required
  • Support test phases
